Dandeli has been on my list ever since I moved to Bangalore. It is situated in the Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka, in the Western Ghats. It is a forest city which lies on the bank of river Kali. It is natural habitat of wildlife. It is also one of the largest wildlife sanctuaries in Karnataka.
We travelled to Dandeli by road from Bangalore via Hampi in June 2018. The last 60 odd kilometer drive on the Hubli-Dandeli route is scenic. It is best to drive through it during monsoons to experience the lush greenery.

Dandeli is popular among adventure enthusiasts for rafting, zorbing, kayaking etc. There are many options for accommodation on and around the banks of river Kali. Must visit sigh-seeing spots in Dandeli are Syntheri rocks, Supa Dam, Moulangi picnic spot.

We stayed at the Dandeli Wildernest Jungle Camp. It offers various types of accommodation ranging from tents to cottages. It’s beautifully constructed amidst the greenery. All inclusive packages include the stay, buffet breakfast, lunch, dinner, tea with snacks, sightseeing and adventure activities.

One of the staff accompanied us for sightseeing. For adventure activities, they have a tie-up with the group conducting the activities at the banks of river Kali. The package which we chose, included the activities such as nature walk, natural Jacuzzi and boating. We opted for kayaking additionally.

Overall, it was a great experience. Dandeli Wildernest Jungle Camp is popular as a photo-shoot location as well. The staff is polite and courteous. Special requests are catered to. A barbecue and marinated foodstuff is provided on request. It is ideal for a group for a one or two day stay.
