This rooftop cafe is easy to spot. The newbie in town makes you smile with your eyes. As I entered, the array of paintings on tiny canvases facing the potted plants caught my eye. The beautiful setup pleases one’s senses. Warm lighting makes the decor stand out. It sports both indoor and outdoor (covered) seating. Perfect Bangalore weather calls for outdoor seating on most pleasant evenings. We visited Smise in the mid of the week without prior reservation, but it was not crowded. It offers a few games and books as well. It is an ideal place to hang-out in a group.
On being suggested by the staff, we picked 7 spice chicken skewer – tender chicken marinated in mild, home-style spices and Fish N Chips – crumb fried fish with chips and cheesy dip for the appetizers. We opted for thin crust pizza topped with chicken tikka, onions and pesto and thoroughly relished the perfect flavours. Served with two pieces of crisp garlic bread, pasta in creamy tomato sauce was the next in line, waiting to be savored by us. The sauce did not taste like a combination of tomato and cream as mentioned on the menu but it was worth ordering for.
The staff is polite and courteous. The service is quick. The menu covers many options to pick from – salads, appetizers, sandwiches, burgers, rolls, pizzas, pasta/curries for the main course along with grilled variants, sizzlers, desserts, beverages including smoothies, shakes, mocktails and soft drinks. Some of the options are customizable with the choice of add-ons. Smise’s philosophy lives up to its tagline – Eat. Drink. Smile 🙂
